    F5H7J5 52-210 Putative Domain Summary

    The N-terminus of the Raptor protein contains a domain that is homologous to the caspase proteins of peptidase family C14. This sequence similarity was initially noted by Ginalski and colleagues in 2004 [Ref]. This domain conserves a His/Cys catalytic dyad suggesting that this domain is most likely a functional enzymatic domain.  However, whether this domain acts as a peptidase and what its substrate might be is unknown. Ginalski and colleagues speculate that this domain may bind to the TOS motifs which are reminiscent of caspase substrates. This domain has now been added to Pfam during the AFP annotation meeting. It has been called Raptor_N and assigned accession number PF14538.
