    Pfam family PFAM:PF01908 {Protein of unknown function DUF75} with 848 members in NR database and additional 664 members in the metagenomic datasets is represented in Archaea, Bacteria, and Eukaryota.

    The first structural representative solved (PDB Id: TOPSAN:2p90) was subject to FATCAT structural similarity search that indicated similarity to SCOP (v. 1.73) domain SCOP:d1vhwa_ classified as phosphorylase/hydrolase-like fold, Cgl1923-like (super)family. However, no sequence similarity to this fold has been detected. A DALI search with 2p90 as query provides hits with other PAC2 proteins like 2wam (Z=34), 3e35 (Z=34) and 3gaa (Z=18). A BLAST search with the Cgl1923 sequence identifies the proteasome assembly chaperone ckrop_1076 with an e-val=1e-86 and 53% seq. id.

    Therefore, PF09754 contains members that function as chaperones for the assembly of the 20S proteasome [Ref].
