    Summary

    Pfam family PFAM:PF02457 {Domain of unknown function DUF147 } with 873 members in NR database and additional 540 members in the metagenomic datasets is represented in Archaea, and Bacteria. The first structural representative solved (PDB Id: TOPSAN:2fb5) was subject to FATCAT structural similarity search that indicated similarity to SCOP (v. 1.73) domain SCOP:d1oeda_ classified as Yojj-like fold. (Note: new fold solved by PSI). However, this partial similarity is not sufficient for fold assignment. Thus it is a novel fold. Based on existing annotations confirmed by structural similarity one can hypothesize that this family is the distribution of conserved histidines and aspartates suggests that this may be a metal dependent phosphoesterase. YacK from Bacillus subtilis also contains a Helix-hairpin-helix HHH motif that is characteristic of DNA binding proteins.
