    Protein Summary

    Gene TM0189 from Thermotoga maritima encodes the NP_228004 amino acid sequence which is similar to periplasmic binding proteins ( PF01497 ) from COG0614 (ABC-type Fe3+-hydroxamate transport system, periplasmic component) and also to the periplasmic component of ABC-type transport systems (COG4594, COG4592, COG4558, and COG4607). By genomic context and pattern of phylogenetic cooccurrence (STRING score 0.989), the functions of TM0189 may be interdependent with functions of TM0190 (putative Fe 3+ ABC transporter, permease protein) and TM0191 (putative Fe3+ ABC transporter, ATP-binding protein).

    SCOP classifies 2etv inside the alpha/beta class, chelatase-like fold, helical backbone metal receptor superfamily, TM0189-like family. Structures with significant similarity, apart from PDB:2phz (Z=17) and PDB:2chu (Z=18) [Ref] are (determined with DALI,  FATCAT and FFAS03): PDB:1n4a (chain A, Z=15) and PDB:1efd (chain N, Z=17). Similar structures without significant sequence similarity are: PDB:1xvl (chain A, Z=8) and PDB:1toa (chain A, Z=8).
