    Protein Summary

    This protein is a homolog of a gamma-glutamylcysteine synthetase (ligase) (GshA) from Thiobacillus ferrooxodans PF08886 COG2918 EC 6.3.2.2. The structure of this protein is similar (Dali Z-score 10.9; FATCAT P-val=3.1e-2) to human glutathione synthetase (PDB 2hgs), and very different from gamma-glutamylcysteine synthetase from Escherichia coli (PDBs 1v4g, 1va6). It is expected to bind ATP, Mg, Glu and Cys. It appears that the crystal structure is in a closed conformation, a complex with ligands would be greatly beneficial to the interpretation of the structure and ligand binding site (currently in progress).
