    Protein Summary

    Gene AFE_0303 encodes a protein (YP_002220834) with 161 residues from Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans ATCC 23270 with isoelectric point of 6.03.  The NCBI blast sequence alignment indicates that YP_002220834 contains a conserved domain belonging to Cupin2 family (PF07883) with diversified functionalities [Ref].  SCOP classifies 3l2h in the all-beta class, RmlC-like cupins superfamily, TM1287-like family. 3l2h is structurally similar (Dali Z-scr=20) to a putative sugar phosphate isomerase (PDB ID: 3I7D) and to (Dali Z-scr=10) a tetracenomycin polyketide synthesis protein from X. campestris [Ref]  (PDB IDs: 2GU9 & 3H50).  The crystal interface contacts suggest that the oligomerization state in solution of YP_002220834 is a tetramer.
