    Protein Summary

    This structure helps identification of a new pfam family  PF14323. Sequence and structural similarity searches suggest a possible role of sugar processing. Three homologs in B. thetaiotamicron, BT2193 (this protein), BT2200, BT3857 and BT3859 (the first two may belong to an operon; the second pair is in an operon likely digesting α-mannan, host N-glycans--see 21507958).

    The structure consists of a TIM barrel which is most similar to Peptidoglycan Deacetylase (3qbu), however, this structure does not contain the zinc binding site. The N-terminal domain (47-302) consists of 3 similar subdomains made of ba repeats, reminiscient of b-propeller. The N-terminal domain does not have significant 3d structural matches.


    There are two versions of protein sequences, one like this structure, another one with circular permutation (near residues 200).
